The GSA-RMI-DME has a rotating compass rose and 2 handles. the navigation source can be set for each handle, by pushing buttons.The GSA-RMI-DME provides aircraft heading information on a compass card read against a fixed lubber line.

Heading flag monitors servo error, compass valid, and instrument power. The unit is topped with a distance measuring unit showing the distance to NAV stations.
